Teoscar Hernandez Leaves After Being Hit By Pitch And Offense Cant Pick Up Landon Knack In 3 1 Loss

Teoscar Hernandez Leaves After Getting Hit by Pitch, Misses Game

Knack Pitches Valiantly but Suffers Loss

Jays Offense Stalls in Loss

In a disappointing turn of events, Teoscar Hernandez exited the game after getting hit by a pitch, leaving the Blue Jays offense shorthanded in a 3-1 loss. Hernandez was struck on the right elbow by a 95 mph fastball from Tigers starter Matt Manning in the first inning and immediately left the game.

The loss snapped a four-game Blue Jays winning streak and marked the first time they had lost to the Tigers in over a year.

Despite the loss, the Blue Jays received a valiant effort from starter Hagen Danner, who made his second straight start in place of the injured Hyun Jin Ryu.

Danner allowed just three hits and one earned run over 4 1/3 innings while striking out six batters.

The Blue Jays bullpen continued to struggle, however, as Tim Mayza, Bowden Francis, and Jordan Romano combined to allow two unearned runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

The Blue Jays offense was unable to provide much support for Danner, managing just five hits and one run off Manning and the Tigers bullpen.

The only run for the Blue Jays came in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Cavan Biggio.

The loss dropped the Blue Jays to 44-44 on the season, while the Tigers improved to 38-50.
