Curtis Cup 2023: Team USA Defeats Team GB&I
A Thrilling Victory for the Americans
Team USA emerged victorious in the 2023 Curtis Cup, defeating Team GB&I by a score of 12.5 to 11.5.
The biennial competition between the top female amateur golfers from the United States and Great Britain and Ireland was held at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.
Team USA took an early lead in the competition, winning the first four matches of the opening day.
Team GB&I fought back on the second day, winning three of the four morning foursomes matches.
However, Team USA regained control in the afternoon four-ball matches, winning three of the four matches to take a 8.5 to 3.5 lead going into the final day of competition.
Team GB&I needed to win 6.5 points on the final day to retain the Curtis Cup.
However, Team USA won the first two singles matches of the day to clinch the victory.
The victory was the eighth for Team USA in the last 10 Curtis Cups.
